GERRIT Sails The Seas Of Displacement LP (Misanthropic Agenda) 9.98An older LP (circa 2004) from noise musician, Sunn O))) collaborator and Misanthropic Agenda boss Gerrit, issued in a limited edition of 100 copies. On Sails The Seas Of Displacement, Gerrit forgos the harsher glitch/feedback constructs he's annhilated us with on other releases, and instead constructs an intensely creepy terrain of grotesque beast growls looped into infinity, broken clattery rhythms, and eerie ambience. 'Bon Voyage' begins by dragging chains down a dusty steel-plated corridor, the sound of metal on metal looping together with scurrying electronic glitches and cascading sheets of white noise, building in intensity into a vomit roar of distortion. 'Vapor Wakes' builds loops of gnashing beasts and creaking radar signals, a wobbly ellipse of damaged nightmare electronics. On the flip side, 'Tongues' captures the tones of an iron wind chime clanking against the side of a building slipping in and out of phase, while """"Blindly Follow' navigates a creepy minimalist soundfield of rattling metal, sparse ghostlike cymbals, and alien breathing. These tracks remind me a bit of Universal Indians horror scapes, but with elements of psychedelic dub effects and odd field recordings. Very different and quite surreal, this one will completely transform your headspace if played in a dark room at high volume. Comes in an orange and black jacket with insert sheet.
