EYEHATEGOD  Live  DVD   (MVD)   14.98
Live IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDER

After more than twenty years of bruising eardrums and neck bones with their depraved, bloozy sludgecore, we finally get an official live document of Eyehategod in action, titled simply enough Live. This ninety-minute DVD has two live sets from the New Orleans sludge punkers, the first in Cleveland from 2009, the second in Baltimore in 2010. Both shows are pro-shot with multiple camera angles and clear, punchy soundboard quality audio, and find the band doing their thing in front of very large and enthusiastic crowds of dirtbags, coked-up thrashers, and totally inebriated mud metallers.

That first show from Cleveland at Now That's Class looks like it must have been a fucking riot. The whole show is a sweaty, booze-soaked mess, with Eyehategod whipping the crowd into a slow motion frenzy of nihilistic hardcore slime and elephantine Sabbath riffage across fourteen songs.

The second set is from the Ottobar in Baltimore back in October of '09, which I actually attended. Man, that show was nuts. The camera shots are a little darker as the Ottobar is pretty much a cave, but this effectively captures how wild Eyehategod was that night. Eleven songs. Lots of spitting. Lots of bad attitude. Lots of baiting the audience. A couple fights. Some feelings were hurt. It was a goddamn blast. One of the cool things about this DVD was assembled is that each show has a completely different set list, so between the two you get a variety of material. There's some bonus stuff on the disc too, including a thirteen minute, three-song segment from one of Eyehategod's recent shows in Vienna, Austria, and three music videos for the songs "Sister Fucker", "Anxiety Hangover", and "Age Of Bootcamp".

Highly recommended to fans of these pioneering sludge legends.
