FRESH MEAT Leather Daddy 7" VINYL (Fashionable Idiots) 6.50I've been raving about the brain-damaged hardcore coming out on labels like Fashionable Idiots lately, and this recent offering from the label is one of the best, a 7" Ep of heavy, sludgy, rocking hardcore out of Allentown, PA from a band called Fresh Meat who stalks both sides of this platter with some supremely messed-up predatory punk. On Leather Dady, their sound is a fucked up brand of bludgeoning post-punk drool in the tradition of later-period Black Flag, Brainbombs, Drunks With Guns, Kilslug, Flipper, Stickmen With Rayguns and similar miscreants, with howling reverb-soaked vocals, pounding mid-tempo drums, feedback-heavy guitars that emit some real skullscraping levels of noise, and someone playing something that sounds like a recorder or flute on two of the songs. The a-side has "Bad Mask" and "Problem Fixer", while the flipside has the pummeling mongoloid dirge "Get To Work", an especially heavy slab of lurching sludgepunk. Ugly, misanthropic and weird to the core, this Ep should find it's way onto your turntable if you're into the sort of weirdo HC that likeminded bands like Pissed Jeans and Drunkdriver have been championing lately.
Released in a limited edition of six hundred copies.
