CORRUPTED Se Hace Por Los Suenos Asesinos CD (HG Fact) 27.99At long last, we've got the Corrupted back catalog on Japanese label HG Fact back in stock. Due to the crazy upward rise of the yen, these titles are more expensive now than the last time that we had them in stock, and it also looks like we're one of the only U.S. shops that have these on the shelves right now.
The crucial 2004 full length from the masters of Japanese glacier metal, Corrupted. This 35 minute full length disc opens with a 17 minute track of jet-black, dirgey folk-drone as an acoustic guitar is strummed hypnotically against evil whispered vocals and nightmarish chants/grunts, all in Spanish. This song stretches out languidly, a midnight-hued, softly strummed mantra similar to NEUROSIS acoustic material, but darker, grimmer, more repetitive, more mesmerizing, with ghostly slide guitar peering out of the void. A beautiful lullaby sung by vengeful warrior spirits. After about half a minute of silence, the second track, "Rato Triste", erupts into a creeping mudslide of suffocating demonic sludge riff tumbling out of towering Marshall stacks alongside Hevi's torn-throat utterances and gigantic droning feedback and bowel-loosening bass frequencies...Heavier than the earth's continents breaking apart, fading back out into the void after bludgeoning you with a narcoleptic megariff for ten minutes. The final track, "Sus Futuros", picks up immediately, with a mid-tempo battle riff that would give the Melvins a run for their money, as drummer Chew (formerly of Omoide Hatoba) flails on his drumkit, smashing everything within reach to pieces, while the band lurches forward like a satanic behemoth drenched in hot tar. None come heavier. The packaging is sweet (and is partly the reason to the higher price of this CD), coming in a gatefold sleeve with a pocket for the booklet and a pocket for the CD, with gorgeous black and white and silver printing. Highly recommended.
