At long last, we've got the Corrupted back catalog on Japanese label HG Fact back in stock. Due to the crazy upward rise of the yen, these titles are more expensive now than the last time that we had them in stock, and it also looks like we're one of the only U.S. shops that have these on the shelves right now.

This new full length from legendary Japanese doom/dirge/post-rock outfit Corrupted consists of a single song, an hour and twelve minutes long, entitled "El Mundo Frio", and which may be their finest hour. This monolithic epic opens with a wash of shimmering and sullen droning slowcore formed from haunting piano and gently plucked harp and fingerpicked guitar, softly creeping and understated as notes fall in the darkness like snowflakes, all drifting shadowy ambience that lingers for more than ten minutes before the first avalanche of ultra distorted, ultra heavy doomcrust chords begin to crash in, like a collapsing midnight sky, massively heavy and rumbling but encrusted in a gorgeous lilting melody buried beneath the saurian sludge and trance bliss. This coalesces into a crushing sludge dirge that eventually evolves into over a half hour of icy post-rock/shoegazer beauty and gossamer dreaminess. Absolutely necessary for fans of Boris, Harvey Milk, Isis, Pelican, and Growing. The packaging for El Mundo Frio is positively stunning, and is the reason for the expensive price. The CD comes packaged inside of a perfect-bound hardcover Digipak book with an enormous booklet full of stark black & white landscape photos and a foil stamped cover. It's absolutely stunning, and a perfect accompaniment to the Earth shaking masterpiece of El Mundo Frio's slowly unfolding post-rock inflected ultradoom ! Highly recommended !
