FREAKHATE  It Comes From The Grave  CD   (Horror Pain Gore Death)   9.98

The first full-length album from these Spanish death metallers would end up being their last, but they went out with a big, bloody bang with this massive dose of monstrous scum-death, inspired in equal measures by Autopsy/Abscess, Eyehategod and GG Allin. Freakhate's modus operandi on this disc is a combination of bizarre drug-addled graveyard fantasies, putrescent doom-laden death metal and crusty thrash, and I can never get enough of that kind of stuff. It Comes From The Grave rumbles through nine tracks of noxious cemetery booze-stench, pounding away relentlessly at killer syrup-slathered death metal riffage and sludgy heaviness, songs like "Infected Flesh Decomposition" , "Keep The Cult Of The Crypt Alive", "Lords Of The Alcoholocaust", "Alcohol, Crack And Corpses For Satan" and "Abomination Embalmed In Beer" endorsing nonstop goat worship, copious alcohol consumption, death worship and hardcore drug abuse. This sort of party gets an instant thumbs up from me, invoking the same kind of slimy crushing foulness as bands like Coffins, Fistula, Machetazo, Anatomia, Spun In Darkness, Dead Congregation and Abscess. Hell yeah. Puking pig-grunt vokills and Spanish-language samples over lots of mid-paced, punky thrash and D-beat style drumming, crushing down tuned riffage and slow, pulverizing tempos, vile crawling deathsludge, but like Hooded Menace, these guys also inject some cool melodic guitar work into their filthy death metal, whipping out some awesome shredding solos and melodic leads that lash out of the doomed pummel. And then there are the parts where Freakhate get really slow, dragging their booze-drenched assault into incredibly slow stretches of droning feedback and glacial heaviness that borders on Corrupted-like levels of extreme crawl. Filthy, gore-soaked hedonism Coffins/Autopsy fans will fucking love this!
