ENDLESS BLOCKADE  Turn Illness Into A Weapon  CD   (Sound Pollution)   7.98

We've never carried this 2005 album from The Endless Blockade on cd before, so now that Sound Pollution is shutting it's doors I figured I'd grab some before they're all gone. Back in 2006, we got the UK vinyl release of this in stock and sold out of it in a matter of days, so even then people were flipping out over the brutal grinding hardcore of this Canadian band, which features Andy Nolan of fastcore legends Ebola/Shank/Sawn-Off as well as the harsh noise project Joshua Norton Cabal.

Blending the punishing hyperspeed powerviolence of Infest/Crossed Out/Man Is The Bastard with stretches of glacial sludge and electronic noise, these guys do not fuck around, emitting some of the most brutal and unmelodic extreme hardcore in action right now. Angular MITB-like riffs, bone-shaking bass and raging distorted hardcore punk go slamming skull-first into pits of tarpit sludge so slow and pummeling they reach Corrupted-like levels of slow-motion heaviosity, and the extreme contrast between the ultra-fast and super-slow parts make these fifteen songs a jarring listen. This was the band's first full length, and it doesn't have any of the harsh industrial noisescapes that appear on later releases, but this is still a decimating slab of powerviolence extremism that'll sate the hunger of any ultracore addicts. Features surreal full color artwork from Brian from Watchmaker, and includes a thick booklet loaded with artwork, lyrics, and some lengthy writings from the band on the U.S. prison industry and other subjects. Highly recommended!
