DEVIATED SISTER TV  A Deceptive Front  CDR   (Turgid Animal)   5.98
A Deceptive Front IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDER

Although their tied in to the Italian PE/harsh noise scene that surrounds Turgid Animal, Deviated Sister TV are a much more eclectic sonding project that only occasionally makes forays into full on blinding noise. You can credit members Aleph Zero and Malice (who, it should be noted, is a lady, an all-too-rare occurance in the realm of power electronics) for bringing a depth of sound and creative assimiliation of classic industrial sounds (and even some cool non-industrial moves) to their work as well as a dual male/female vocal presence, something that I wish we'd see more of. This new disc features eight lengthy tracks that move through a surreal psychedelic soundworld of old-school industrial clatter, distorted drum loops, and trippy effects-laden noise that the two members of DS-TV tend to use sparingly. On tracks like "La Maledizione Di Leonarda" and "From Beyond", deep thumping distorted throbs loop beneath rumbling digital dark ambience, evil whispered vocals, controlled waves of muted harsh noise, with pulsating mechanical propulsion grinding out these monstrous industrial grooves. On the other hand, there's the blackened and demonic power electronics of "Snuff Starlett Never Smiles Twice", a furious slab of Whitehouse-style distorto-sleaze with seething distorted male vocals backed by destructive synth noise...which is then invaded halfway through by the unexpected appearance of airy harps and piano? This contrast between light musical samples and the brutal electronic assault creates a pretty nauseating effect. "Eyeless" follows that up with another unexpected turn, this time with Malice crooning in a sultry voice over a crushing distorted slow-motion drum beat and heavily delayed percussion, a super heavy and deeply unsettling industrial-dub, followed by "List Of Dirty Wishes", a raging black furnace of distortion and programmed percussion that sounds surprisingly like some kind of drum-machine driven blacknoise layered with deafening blasts of hoovering distortion, like hyperspeed black metal with all fothe guitars stripped out, leaving just an insane 1000 bpm blast and screeching demonic vocals amid a storm of harsh noise. And the last track "Nausea" brings us back to the heavy, rhythmic loops and blown-out percussives that started this album off, a massive grinding machine-noise loop blanketed by swells of crumbling sonic grit and mid-range distortion. A cool and evil-sounding mix of old school RRRecords style electronic noise, early Throbbing Gristle/SPK/Einsturzende Neubauten, classic power electronics and subtle shades of hellish blacknoise. Spraypainted disc in a wallet sleeve.
