CITY OF CHURCHES Memelust 7" VINYL (Eolian) 4.98Whoa - this is nothing like what you would expect from a band with John Krausbauer in it. His other bands Tecumseh and Trees are the slowest and lowest of the slow and low, both bands pushing the edges of slow motion doom abstraction and hypnotic dronemetal pretty far out there, but in City Of Churches, John and his bandmates set their trajectory for the exact opposite of anything slow, and instead rain down with a panic-attack of a 7" that features 63 tracks (total Anal Cunt style) that sounds like the band is exploring every possible angle of Painkiller's song "Scud Attack". One track slams into the next, a few seconds each and thats it, insanely complex and spastic grindcore tracks that fly by so fucking fast you don't even know what happened, some a mere second long, shreddy guitar and blasting drums and bloodied shrieks tangled into a microblip of sonic violence. This is crazy shit, and much of it is improvised, although some of the tracks on this record were also assembled using some sort of weird notation system that the members of City Of Churches invented. This sounds like the super-short grind pieces on Painkiller's Guts Of A Virgin compressed into even shorter pieces, or a vicious hybrid of old Crom-Tech and Seven Minutes Of Nausea. Jesus! This will make noisecore fans heads explode, it's got that same micro-violence energy as Anal Cunt, 7MONX, etc., but way more shreddy, like Mick Barr cramming his fret-burning single notes runs into four second grindnoise eruptions. Harsh, head-rupturing stuff! Memelust comes on black vinyl, packaged in hand-screened three-color jackets printed on a heavy recycled cardstock, and limited to 500 copies!
