GNAW THEIR TONGUES  The Genocidal Deliverance  7" VINYL   (At War With False Noise)   6.98
The Genocidal Deliverance IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDER

The first ever 7" from Gnaw Their Tongues comes to us from At War With False Noise, who released this blackened blast in a limited edition of 300 copies. 300 copies? Fuck! It's already sold out from the label, but I did move fast enough to pick up twenty five of'em for C-Blast before they disappeared. Still existing in their unique netherworld somewhere between black metal, cinematic black ambience and horrific orchestral murk, this is nevertheless a much more brutal slab of blackened mutation than I'm used to hearing from the Dutch monstrosity. Most of the previous CD-Rs and albums from GTT tend towards a deformed, Abruptum-like abstraction, but the two songs that are featured on this EP are the closest to actual "black metal" that I've heard from the project. "The Genocidal Deliverance" and "Dead Bird Prophecies" each start off as fast, primal black metal with awesomely murky, filthy production and some killer hooks - think Darkthrone, Marduk, but with some surprisingly catchy, even poppy riffs surfacing from beneath the slime and hiss; but as each track progresses, they bulge and break apart at the seams, the riffs suddenly decomposing into blown-out noise, thrashing drums collapsing into a heap of clattering beats and cymbal wreckage, awesome wailing guitar solos screaming through the skuzz, blackened shrieks and falsetto wailing, damaged keyboard lines and looped orchestral pieces uncoiling over the dungeon ambience. Pretty sickening and hallucinatory as with all Gnaw Their Tongues releases, and yet like their Crucial Blast album An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood, there is some subversive melody skulking in the corners of GTT's music. The record is on black vinyl, in the aforementioned limited run of 300, and comes packaged in a glued pocket 7" sleeve that bears some disturbing, sexually provocative artwork from GTT mastermind Mories.
