EYEHATEGOD Dopesick 2 x LP (Emetic) 22.98Back in print once again from Emetic! Remastered for vinyl and presented in a gorgeous gatefold jacket on heavy black vinyl, this new series of Eyehategod LP releases has been a long time coming for those of us that have been worshipping at the altar of these NOLA scumgods. Each is limited to only 500 copies.
This is the new remastered re-issue of Eyehategod's classic third album on Century Media, with three unreleased bonus tracks that include alternate versions of "Peace Thru War" and "Depress", and a track called "Dopesick Jam", plus revised artwork and package design and new liner notes from EHG vocalist/lyricist Mike Williams. Essential for Eyehategod disciples!
Crucial Billy Anderson-produced 1996 full length from New Orleans fucked-up hardcore sludge godz Eyehategod features the band at what might be their most strung-out and agonized, opening with sickly feedback strains and jarring screams and closing with the sound of bottles being hurled against the floor. The guts of this sonic suicide are doomed and fucking totally encrusted in swamp-filth, as Dopesick ejaculates some of the most diseased and feedback infested atonal riffage and anguished/human hating vocal vomit yet documented from Eyehategod, and songs like "My Name Is God (I Hate You)", "Ruptured Heart Theory", and "Peace Through War" will never be confused for feel-good anthems. They diversify though, with a killer mix of that rotten post- Black Sabbath hurl they've mastered, and up-tempo hardcore punk disasters strewn in human skin and hypodermics. Denser and heavier than previous albums, the production is monstrous and thick and frequently sounds like it could buckle under its own weight. A masterpiece of ultimate nihilistic swamp sludge, Dopesick is one of our ALL TIME favorite albums. An essential entry into the fucked feedback dirge canon alongside Brainbombs, Skullflower, Khanate, Corrupted, and Melvins.
