GLAUKOM SYNOD  Obsessism XXIII  CASSETTE   (Reality Impaired)   5.98
Obsessism XXIII IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDER

Industrial metal undergoes a bizarre chromosomal mutation in the hands of the French band Glaukom Synod. This is the first of several self-released cassettes that Glaukom Synod has excreted since forming in 2004, and it features eleven tracks of brutal basement industrial metal chopshop, a mix of the older speed-metal damaged Ministry stuff, Front 242, Skinny Puppy, harsh noise, death metal, and weird samples. Each "song" is more like a collage of assorted sounds than a structured tune, and there is almost nothing in the way of verses or choruses here; the feel is more schizophrenic, as plodding Industrial rhythms and distorted EBM are stitched together with blasting, ultranoisy grindcore, deformed breakbeats, random glitch noises and corrosive white noise, droning low-end frequencies, weird voice loops and monstrous vocal processing, and these passages of hypnotic looped percussion that stretch way out and actually turn into a quasi-krautrock rhythmic jam. The mix of crushing thrash metal guitars and danceable breakbeats are immediately reminiscent of the old Wax Trax sound, but this is much more wacked out, fucked up and abstract. I've always loved that Wax Trax sound and hearing get twisted around and damaged by Glaukom Synod makes this an instant hit.
