DISAPPEARER  self-titled  CD   (Trash Art)   10.98

Attention fans of epic, metallic post-rock: we have yet another band for you to fall in love with. With the relatively new outfit Disappearer, members of Doomriders and There Were Wires reconfigure themselves into one hell of a crushing, mostly-instrumental metal hammer, intertwining emotionally charged melodies and brooding repetitive post-rock with eruptions of massive metallized dirge that takes cues from the likes of Neurosis and Mogwai while injecting a soaring, space rock vibe. Some of the awesome glazed guitar textures and crunchy melodic hooks present here actually remind us of a cross between Neurosis and Swervedriver, super spacey and anthemic and crushing. This self titled disc has remastered versions of their demo, plus an epic new 12 minute song called "Crownfire". Hell yeah, most highly recommended to fans of Mouth Of The Architect, Tides, Mogwai, Isis, Switchblade, Red Sparowes, Pelican, and all things heavy and majestic and instrumental. Awesome!
