This is my first exposure to Doom Snake Cult, which I guess isn't too surprising as the band was pretty obscure even when they were around, releasing just this one full-length on the now long-defunct JL America label and not really making it too far outside of Las Vegas where they were located. Released in 1992, Love Sorrow Doom is actually filled with some pretty amazing psychedelic deathdoom, which would be why Nuclear War Now! decided to rescue this from the tombs and give it a limited-edition vinyl re-issue. Packed in a cool, minimalist green jacket with occult symbols printed in metallic gold ink, and pressed on heavy black vinyl, this album delivers brutal, primitive deathsludge somewhere in between Winter, Saint Vitus and Celtic Frost, but with TONS of effects on the raspy, blackened Quorthon-esque vocals and the bass guitar and lots of weird guitar noise, giving this a super sludgy, evil drugged out sound that perfectly matches the morbid occult imagery of the lyrics and the LSD-inspired vibes. Issued in a limited edition of 800 copies, and accompanied by several insert sheets. Already sold out at the source and out of print !!!
