EXPLODING METH LAB  Seedmouth  CASSETTE   (Unit731 Tapes)   5.98

We got a handful of copies (the last ever it seems?) of this amazing cassette release from Mason, a former member of DC grindcore squad Enemy Soil. Mason has also played in Jesus Of Nazareth, Blower, and several other extremely noisy musical projects that always seem to toe the line between all-out, skin flaying harsh electronic noise holocaust and ungodly fast hyperspeed grindcore, usually powered by a drum machine. Well, this cassette is yet another Mason-creation, a trio called ExMxLx that has Mason on "noise", somebody named Vaughn on "Spite", and a drummer named Jake Cregger. This tape is basically one long, 20 minute track that starts off with all kinds of blasting heavy noise and loops of devestating static that are rapidly edited/spliced with full-on, blastbeat-overdrive grindcore terror, complete with monstrous vocals that are so saturated with noise and distortion that they just become another layer of sound horror. Seriously harsh, brutal stuff. But then a few minutes into it, an awesomely ominous, desolate semi-melodic doom-dirge appears from out of nowhere, all blown out and low-fi and drenched in flanged out psychedelic vocal noise and tape hiss and feedbacking harmonics, like Corrupted at their heaviest and draped in Merzbow-like sheets of electronic skree...and then after a minute, it explodes back into fucking unbelievably epileptic, totally spastic edits of neverending blastbeats underneath an avalanche of white noise and sad electronic melodies and waltzes and demonic roars. In-fucking-TENSE. It reminds me of the cut-up glitch/grind of James Plotkin's Atomsmasher/Phantomsmasher material as well as the in-the-red gabber/grind/cut-up tornado of JESUS OF NAZARETH. Insanely complex grind/noise/ambient/doom craziness. Recommended !!
