Barely been able to contain ourselves with this latest treasure trove of Battle Kommand blackness that's descended on C-Blast headquarters this week. In

amongst the blazing back-catalog releases from Revenge, Leviathan, Xasthur, Sapthuran, N.I.L., and Profanatica, we've just gotten this in, the Battle Kommand

re-issue of the debut from black thrashers Cult Of Daath. This duo (consisting of "Culggath Immortum" on "apocalyptic hellsaw, bass holocaust, and diabolical

chants" and "Wargoat Obscurum" in charge of "battering rams, black winter orator and bestial throat") hails from Chicagoland, and the eight beast-blasts on

Grand Torturers Of Hell are caked with a gnarly blackness somewhere in between Darkthrone, Hellhammer and early Beherit, primitive and fierce, noisy

and fast as hell, with harsh, retching vocals slathered in grisly distortion and simplistic speedy riffing that incites a trance state as the charred guitars

shred circularly over a seemingly nonstop blastbeat assault. Whenever the band suddenly shifts gears and kicks into a mid-tempo thrash breakdown, like they

do in the middle of "Summoning The Blood Red Moon", it is completely ass-kicking. They even include a cover of "Sadomatic Rites" by Beherit. The recording is

gritty and abrasive, courtesy of a 4-track recording that jams Cult Of Daath's distorto rippers way into the red, and theres all sorts of wierd shit going on

that make this even crazier sounding than you'd expect, like strange percussive sounds and distorted noises rattling around in the background. Probably due

to the super low-fi recording, but what the hell. It sounds like a hyperspeed acid trip through a Hieronymus Bosch painting. Super malevolent and ferocious

blackblast skuzz death, which reaches a neck-disintegrating peak with the terminally catchy blast feast of "Tyrant", which is about as catchy as this sort of

barbaric black metal can get. Also includes an additional bonus track not available on the original War Hammer Records version.
