Crotchduster is an elabotrate side project from some members of death metal outfit Capharnaum, stitching together a multitude of styles to create a sort of

psuedo-rock opera/concept album/comedy routine about a fake band formed as a tax-dodging front for their massive inter-dimensional Mammal Sauce operation.

Appropriating various moves from Frank Zappa's Mothers Of Invention and the manic genre hopping pf Mr. Bungle's debut album, Crotchduster stitch together a

staggering variety of musical styles as ferocious death metal bounces to polka, glam metal, lenghty, often impenetrable comedy bits, show tunes, soul, disco,

hip-hop, doo-wop, hardcore, and much more. Sometimes everything happens at once, like in the chaotic seven-minute-plus "Mammal Sauce," which begins as a

power ballad, downshifts into grandiose European black metal, switches to an Iron Maiden-worthy gallop, rhymes "wang" with "Tang," and bottoms out in an

extended section featuring vocodered vocals.This is definitely a joke band, whose humour is ultra filthy, scatalogical, often fucking hilarious,

with lots of metal in-jokes, but the musicianship is killer and the songs are amazingly constructed. Their's histrionic hair metal vocals, tons of lowbrow

humor, dizzying and schizophrenic structures. Blisteringly fast and for adults only, Crotchduster is like channel surfing on late-night cable. Metal drummer

and Howard Stern personality Richard Christy makes a cameo on "Stars Ingenious Cooter". Essential for fans of Spazztic Blurr and Mr. Bungle.
