CONELRAD  A Final Dissolution  CD   (New Addition)   11.98

Sadly defunct, although one of these guys is now playing in No Wave thrash-gunk unit Microwaves (who will be releasing something new on Crucial Blast later in 2006), Conelrad's A Final Dissolution is the final salvo from drums/guitar duo of Adam MacGregor and Jeff Gretz, whose Dadaist metal meltdown conjures everything from brootal Carcass (and other early Earache era) grindcore, free improv spluurt, found sounds, and crunch-prog powerviolence workouts. Ace shit, really. This album clocks in at right around half an hour, and the energy level is go from A to B. When the drums and axe aren't locked into some crazed complex stop-on-a-dime mathy shredding, like Bolt Thrower meets Hella, they're dropping gigantic grindbombs and detuned dirge blowouts that are retardedly heavy. MEGA heavy. Add to that some chiming post-rock / indie breakdowns, musique concrete blats, straight up thrashy hardcore sprints, with total off-the-hook musicianship taking everything up a freaking notch, this is one of the coolest proggy duo metal blasts we've ever heard, and fits between both the artsy spazzisms of 7000 Dying rats, Flying Luttenbachers, and Orthrelm, and the most crushing extreme hardcore ( Crossed Out, Infest, Man Is The Bastard). Suppression, too.... although these guys are way more "tech" than Suppression is.
