COFFINS  The Other Side Of Blasphemy  CD   (20 Buck Spin)   13.98
The Other Side Of Blasphemy IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE FOR ORDER

You want apocalyptic nuclear wasteland death? Have a craving for some slaytanic sludge doom? Japanese deathsludge trio Coffins wraps both up in a crushing downtuned morass with their second album album, released by the doomlords over at 20 Buck Spin. And fuck, is this heavy. Housed inside of a case with album art that depicts a giant winged goatheaded demon in the midst of church-burning, human-impaling carnage, The Other Side Of Blasphemy is a feast of super primitive old school death metal riffs downtuned to Z, a churning concrete roar that's poured over gluey, midpaced pummeling beats and slow crawling doom dirge. I'm reminded of Autopsy, early Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, and doom crusties Winter while having these guys batter my cranium with songs like "The Other Side Of Blasphemy" and "Evil Infection", and I'm also really digging the crusty vibe that Coffins possess - slow, crawling death filth, no freaking frills, all stench, with monstrous low beast gurgles and wicked blackened shrieks and tossing in a couple of rotten guitar solos that make the pounding sludge sound even more diseased. Skull-crushing subsonic heaviness, the band members' Hellhammer and Corrupted t-shirts on the back cover indicating the glacial septic sludge that seeps off of this seven-song disc.
